International Cooperation and Research

NWMO staff participate in the Nuclear Energy Agency’s Forum for Stakeholder Confidence, a forum for international collaboration and research. The focus of this group, as described on its website, is to facilitate the sharing of experience in addressing the societal dimension of radioactive waste management and explore means of ensuring an effective dialogue with the public with a view to strengthening confidence in the decision-making processes.

NWMO staff also participate in the Nuclear Energy Agency’s International Collaboration on Preservation of Records Knowledge and Memory across Generations. The focus of this group is to “internationalize the thinking, compare approaches, test potential solutions and share decisions” in this very important area.
