The NWMO invited Canadians to become involved and help shape its study of waste management approaches throughout the study process. I am thoroughly impressed with the dialogue and community-level involvement you are seeking in the creation of the nuclear waste management plans, however, I believe that although your organization is effectively researching and creating the management plans, it is the next generation (my generation) who are going to be implementing them.

I was present in December at the presentation given at the Days Inn, it was very informative and also weel presented, I find we need to educate the public so much more on NWM.

Placing nuclear waste in deep disposal does not eliminate problems with it, it merely creates the illusion of "management" because we can no longer see it. Rocks allow the passage of water, regardless of whether we can see it or not and with that water, will go the nuclear waste. The Swan Hills Waste Disposal Unit in Alberta is an example of waste disappearing from Alberta but it will resurface somewhere East. I do not believe we know enough about the passage of groundwater to permit burial into deep reservoirs.

Used fuel management is a long-term issue and any solution should not only be acceptable to our generation but should also be so for future generations.
