The community of South Bruce initiated its involvement in the site selection process by formally expressing interest in learning about the project in 2012.
This expression of interest triggered studies to explore the potential suitability of its geology while the community learned more about the project and reflected on its interest in it.
In 2020, we announced the Municipality of South Bruce is one of two continuing in the site selection process. This decision followed several years of progressively more detailed study and engagement.
The project will only move forward in any area with interested communities, along with First Nation, Métis and surrounding communities, working together to implement it.
As new information becomes available, we publish updates about what we’ve done, what we’re doing, and future steps.
