Riley, George

Based on the NWMO’s assessments of the three mandated approaches it has been shown that none of them has perfectly addressed the values and objectives that Canadians have expressed as important for the long-term management of used nuclear fuel.

I believe that the recommended Adaptive Phased Management approach with well planned stages and periodic decision points responsive to changing technology and circumstances, is the most appropriate approach.

My main concern is with implementation that, even with the best of intentions in maintaining a close and ongoing dialogue with Canadians, it could become politicalised to an extent that it becomes part of the greater question of energy policy and the future of nuclear power in Canada.
