The process of selecting a site for Canada's used nuclear fuel was initiated by communities interested in learning about the project and potentially hosting the facilities in their area. As the siting process continues, Indigenous communities are engaged, as well as other communities in the area. We are committed to engaging communities in all aspects of the implementation of Canada's plan.

The siting process is advancing in a number of areas. In each area, we work collaboratively with interested communities, Indigenous and Métis communities, and surrounding communities to learn together, reflect on the project and complete preliminary assessment studies.
